Enda Cunningham

Job Title: CEO, Matrix 

Qualifications: B.Comm, Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA), Dip. In Forensic Accounting

Enda has over 30 years commercial experience across a broad range of industries and financial services, including 14 years serving as plc board director. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and left to join Capital Leasing plc on qualification. He subsequently moved to Athlone Extrusions Ltd and led their flotation on the London and Irish Stock Exchanges as Finance Director in 1998. In 2004 he left to join McInerney Holdings plc, again as Finance Director. In 2013 Enda became CEO of Matrix having provided corporate finance advice to the business for a number of years prior to that.

Mark Byrne

Job Title: CFO and Operations Director

Qualifications: B.Comm, Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA), Dip. In Forensic Accounting

Mark qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte, specialising in Insolvency work. He has broad experience in the technology, hospitality and property sectors. He has an extensive knowledge of legal costs from years of experience and is an expert negotiator. Mark is CFO and Operations Director for the combined businesses.

Aisling O’Neill

Job Title: Head of Claims

Qualifications: BA (Hons) Psychology, Grad. Dip. I.T, BSc HRM (CIP)

Aisling graduated from UCD with a BA (Hons) in Psychology, she also holds a Graduate Diploma in IT from DCU, a BSc in Human Resources from DIT, a Certificate in Personnel Practice and is accredited as a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) from the Insurance Institute of Ireland. Aisling has over 20 years experience in claims, having worked in two of Ireland’s largest insurers, prior to joining Matrix Claims in 2003. Aisling is the Head of Claims with responsibility for all aspects of claims operations, including strategy, estimation, instructions and legal costs.

Deirdre Nolan

Job Title: Internal Auditor/Director

Qualifications: Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA), Dip. In Forensic Accounting

Deirdre Nolan FCA joined Matrix Claims in 2003 as Financial Controller, before being promoted to Finance Director in 2005. Deirdre qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the firm of Grant Thornton in 1989. After qualifying Deirdre gained further professional practice experience with Arthur Andersen in the UK, before returning to work in industry with various blue-chip companies which included Diageo and Bristol Meyers Squib.

Ruth King

Job Title: Senior Claims Manager

Qualifications: BA (Hons) Psychotherapy, CIP, Dip Legal Studies, Dip in Insurance Law

Ruth graduated from Dublin Business School with a BA (Hons) in Psychotherapy, she holds a Legal Diploma and is accredited as a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) from the Insurance Institute of Ireland. With over 25 years experience in the claims industry Ruth has worked in AXA and QBE prior to joining Matrix in 2015. She was claims manager in QBE responsible for Motor, EL and Property claims, as well as attending courts around the country for settlement meetings and hearings. Currently manages a portfolio of EL, PL and Motor Claims.

Paul Ratcliffe

Job Title: Senior Claims Manager

Qualifications: CIP

Paul has worked in the insurance industry for 21 years. He has worked for some of the leading insurers handling differing portfolios of claims including motor, employers and public liability, professional indemnity and medical negligence claims. Paul has been involved in the establishment of the Claims Action Line and Direct Settlement sections within Axa and FBD respectively. Paul joined Matrix in 2015 from Liberty Insurance where he was a senior manager in the large loss division. Paul is a member of the MIBI Technical Claims Committee and currently holds the position of Vice Chairman, becoming Chairman in August 2021. Paul has responsibility for portfolio management along with handling files in litigation, devising strategies and providing instructions to our legal team.

Ciarán O’Callaghan

Job Title: Legal Costs Specialist

Qualifications: BA, MSc, ACA (Chartered Accountant), Dip. In Forensic Accounting

Ciarán joined Matrix Claims as a Business Analyst after graduating from Maynooth University. Ciarán now works predominantly in the area of legal costs including managing the legal costs portfolio and leading the specialist legal costs team. Ciarán qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2016 and completed the Diploma in Forensic Accounting in 2018.

Amanda Dixon

Job Title: Financial Controller

Qualifications: ACA (Chartered Accountant), IATI

Amanda graduated from, and became a member of, the Institute of Accounting Technicians in Ireland in 2007 before qualifying as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland in 2016. Prior to working in Matrix Claims Services, she worked both in practise and industry. Amanda is the financial controller for both entities. She is responsible for finalising the management and yearly accounts. Amanda leads the finance team who not only look after the financial reporting of the companies but also plays an integral part in supporting operations. As well as maintaining tight internal controls for payments on client systems she oversees the quality reviews conducted on all client files prior to closure.

Catherine Kingston

Job Title: Claims Associate

Qualifications: B.A. (Hons), ACII

Catherine worked for many years with several leading Insurance Companies within the Irish market before joining the Matrix team. Catherine currently manages a portfolio of liability files for several of our clients, and is also involved in analysing and devising strategies for new instructions.

Kevin Laide

Job Title: Senior Claims Handler

Qualifications: B.Sc, CIP

Kevin graduated from college in 2004 with a 2.1 Honours Degree in Psychology Applied to IT. He is CIP qualified since March 2010. He joined Quinn Insurance (now Liberty Insurance) in February 2006, starting as a Litigation Claims Handler and soon progressing to Team Leader and eventually Claims Process Manager where he was responsible for a team of six Claims Handlers. Kevin has vast experience in dealing with pre-litigation & litigation motor claims with an emphasis on early settlement. He also has experience in Large Loss (Quantum above €250,000) claims handling where he was stationed for his final year in Liberty Insurance. He works on our pre-litigated & litigated motor claims portfolio.

Ada Kiernan Doyle

Job Title: Senior Claims Handler

Qualifications: Certificate Computer Programming, Business Management Fetac Level 5, CIP

Ada has prior experience in the IT industry working with Intel and Foxtech. She commenced employment with Axa Insurance in 2005 working within the pre litigation department and also assisting various departments including FNOL and Property. She moved to Marsh Ireland, gaining significant experience in Motor, EL, PL, Product, Professional indemnity & Construction claims before joining first AIG and subsequently Cunningham Lindsey, handling Prelit and Litigated files, and attending courts around the country for settlement meetings and hearings. Ada is a vastly experienced claims handler and commenced employment with Matrix in January 2017 with responsibility for new file strategies and instructions and also handling Motor/PI Prelit and litigated Claims.

William Walters

Job Title: Senior Claims Manager

Qualifications: MIBI TCC member for ten years holding the position of Chairman for three years, Lifetime member of Insurance Institute of Ireland

William joined General Accident as an underwriting insurance clerk on 01/11/1972. He proceeded to join the claims department some 3 years later and has worked dealing with claims ever since. William was a Claims Manager for some 20 years with Aviva before retiring in 2014. We were delighted to welcome William to Matrix as a Consultant, who continues to provide invaluable expert advice and assistance. William has a particular expertise in equine-related claims and MIBI claims, negotiating settlements, attending court and all aspects of the claims and legal process.

John Conway

Job Title: Senior Claims Manager

Qualifications: Chartered Insurer

John joined the practice in 2018 with over 40 years experience in the Insurance Industry. During this time John was the nominated Claims Executive for a number of large Corporate Risks with AVIVA and worked within AVIVA’s Specialist Unit dealing with Catastrophic Injury Claims, High Value Personal Injury claims, Latent Claims, including Industrial Deafness and Asbestosis claims etc and Pyrite Claims. John has extensive litigation experience, including attending High Court Hearings and providing instructions to legal handlers. John brings a wealth of invaluable knowledge, experience and contacts to the practice.

Sandra Murphy

Job Title: Senior Claims Handler

Qualifications: CPD Qualified, Member of the III

Prior to joining Matrix Claims Services in November 2020, Sandra worked with Hibernian / Aviva for over 30 years.  During this time, she gained a wide experience of claims handling to include High Value and Complex Motor Injury, Employers Liability, Public Liability, Fraud, and Catastrophic Injury claims.  Sandra brings a wealth of skill and expertise to her role in Matrix where she is involved in reviewing and determining strategy on initial instruction, and also providing updated instructions to our claims handler and legal team as required.

Ciaran has worked in Insurance Claims for over 12 years, across a number of market leading insurers, covering Private Motor, Fleet, EL and PL claims. Ciaran brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his liability portfolio in Matrix Claims and has a proven ability to drive optimum results.

Rachel Kavanagh

Job Title: Claims Handler

Qualifications: Certified Insurance Practitioner

Rachel joined Matrix Claims Services in 2018 through the Insurance Institute Apprenticeship Programme which is run in conjunction with IT Sligo. Rachael achieved her Accredited Product Advisor (APA) qualification in October 2019 and received her Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) qualification one year later. She is now in her final year of the Apprenticeship Programme where she hopes to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business in Insurance Practice in 2021.

Maria Winters

Job Title: Management Accountant

Qualifications: ACCA Part Qualified Accountant

Maria joined the finance team in 2014 with prior experience in both practise and industry. She graduated from NCI with a BA (Hons) Accounting in 2010. Maria is responsible for the maintenance of the accounts for Ennis & Associates and preparation of management accounts.  She is also responsible for credit control for all customers. Her duties also include processing of payments on client systems, quality audit reviews and internal reporting to aid in the operations of the business.

Job Title: Accountant Assistant

Qualifications: IATI

Ciara qualified as a member of the Institute of Accounting Technicians in Ireland in 2020 and is responsible for the maintenance of the accounts for Matrix Claims Services and preparation of management accounts. As well as conducting quality audits Ciara is responsible for the day to day management of processing of client payments and re-imbursements.
